If you’d like to learn more, we’re here to help. Here’s what you need to know about getting professional teeth whitening services at our clinic.
How Teeth Whitening Works
The in-office teeth whitening procedure works by using peroxide agents to lift stains that make teeth look dull and yellow. In some cases, it’s possible to use UV light therapy and sanding to create a brighter smile.
Oftentimes, it’s best to get professional whitening services and then follow up with continued care at home. You can use over-the-counter products to keep stains at bay and maintain your bright and healthy smile.
Your dentist will let you know just what in-office and at-home teeth whitening procedures are best for your needs. You just have to come in for a consultation appointment to learn more about your options.
What to Expect During Your Whitening Visit
When you come into our Houston dental clinic for teeth whitening services, you’ll always get the highest quality of care and support. The initial visit starts with a deep dive into your preferences, including your ideal tooth shade. Your dentist will then outline what to expect during each treatment and how often you’ll need to come in to achieve your goals.
After that, you will have your teeth professionally cleaned unless you’ve already had that done in the last six months. The cleaner your teeth are, the better the whitening agents can blast away stains. After cleaning your teeth, your dentist will place gauze around your lips, cheeks, and gums to protect the sensitive tissues from the peroxide.
Then, they will apply the peroxide directly to the front surfaces of your teeth and let it sit on there for a set amount of time. During that time, you’ll need to sit in front of a specialized light that helps the whitening agents work faster. The light will likely feel warm, but you shouldn’t feel any stinging or burning from the gel.
Your dentist will check in with you part way through the treatment. If all is well, give them a thumbs up and finish out the time. Otherwise, let them know if you’re uncomfortable or have any other concerns. At the end of the initial treatment, you can schedule additional whitening appointments as needed to get to your desired tooth shade.
